We finally have an answer to one of the worst-kep secrets in showbiz: Mariah Carey has officially announced her pregnancy. The news came courtesy of an interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush; part of the interview aired on the Today show, with the rest set to air tonight [Oct. 28]. Carey and her husband Nick Cannon say the baby is due this spring, and contrary to earlier reports, they don’t know its sex. The singer admitted she had become pregnant shortly after their 2008 wedding, but miscarried.
“It was really sad. We really had to absorb this and take it in,” Carey said. Cannon added that he admired his wife’s strength during that time, “[that she had] to be so festive during the day and smiling for cameras and spending time with everyone – and then literally at night crying herself to sleep.”
Besides the baby on the way, Carey has something else to celebrate: the upcoming release of her holiday album, Merry Christmas II You.
