Vanessa Williams Dishes on "Desperate Housewives" |

Vanessa Williams is fitting right in with the other “Desperate Housewives” of Wisteria Lane. In an interview with Showbiz Spy.com. Williams, who joined the hit ABC show this season, says she loves her new series. “It’s been amazing. When you do an ensemble piece like this on a weekly basis, it becomes family and that’s what we are now. It makes it fun coming to work every day.” Williams barely skipped a beat in her TV career, transitioning from her Emmy-nominated role as Wilhelmina Slater on “Ugly Betty” after that show was cancelled.
The busy actress/singer says having a career is a little bit easier these days, now that her four kids (Melanie, 22, Jillian, 20, Devin, 17, and Sasha Gabrielle, 10) are older. “I became a mom when I was so young, so I’ve always had my career along with my children. Just eight weeks after I’d had my second child, I had to go to England to promote my album for 10 days. So I dragged my breast pump through airport security….Maybe 10 years later, I’d have said no to the trip. As you get older, you get stronger and more confident, and you get more accustomed to saying no and to knowing your boundaries.”
