Maybe it was his singing, “Fields of Acapulco Gold”: Sting has stirred up trouble with some folks in Russia over his views on pot. The singer is facing the threat of arrest has he tours the former Soviet Union, due to his stance in favor of legalizing marijuana. The comments, written on his blog in April, have infuriated some radical Communists, who pressured authorities to arrest him before a show in Moscow earlier this week. In a statement printed in Britain’s Daily Mail, The Communists of St. Petersburg and Leningrad noted, “…Mister Sting publicly called for the worldwide legalization of marijuana. Not only communists, but everyone in favor of a healthy way of life, the strengthening of our nation's culture and tradition must understand that such a figure, however talented screaming teens may consider him, can not appear on stage in the Russian Federation." Sting seems to have escaped the gulag – his next tour stop is in Lithuania on the 17th.
