Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey are slated for awards at the 2012 BET Honors event, taking place on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC. The awards show honors legendary black excellence and will be hosted by actress Gabrielle Union. Wonder will be honored in the Musical Arts category, while Carey will receive the Entertainer Award. The remaining awards will go to Dr. Maya Angelou for Literary Arts, Spike Lee for Media, the Tuskegee Airmen for Service and Beverly Kearney for Education. This is the fifth consecutive year for the event and prior honorees include Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah and Herbie Hancock.
