Singer Teena Marie has died at the age of 54. Reports so far note that she passed in her sleep, but no other details were available at press time. The Grammy-nominated star was born Mary Christine Brockert. She began as a child actress (appearing on the TV show “The Beverly Hillbillies”) before focusing on her singing career. Early on, she got the attention of Rick James, who produced many of her projects, including her big pop hit, “LoverGirl.” Marie leaves behind a daughter, Alia Rose.
