Phil Collins has an interest in music history: Going Back, his new album of Motown covers, is proof of that. But he also has an interest in one aspect of American history and has just signed a deal to write a book about it. Collins is recognized as one of the leading experts on the Alamo and will be publishing a book on his extensive collection of artifacts. The singer recalls seeing the Walt Disney film “Davy Crockett” as a kid, which sparked his interest. His collection includes weapons, armaments, clothing and documents from the fort; Collins even rents property in San Antonio, TX near the site of the Alamo. As for the book, scheduled for 2012 publication, "It's a huge collection of memorabilia from the Alamo and before and after it, basically the Texas Revolution in general. It's basically the history of all the things I've collected and putting them in the context of the revolution. It's in progress and it's entertaining."
