Patti Labelle Heads to Broadway |

Look for Patti Labelle to light up Broadway this fall, when she joins the cast of the Tony-award winning musical, Fela! Labelle will take on the role of the mother of the show’s title character beginning Sept. 14. Her run goes through Jan. 2, 2011.
Fela! chronicles the life of musician/activist Fela Kuti; the show is produced by, among others, Jay-Z and Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Of her role in the production, Labelle says, “I am both thrilled and honored…Fela’s mother….was a strong, truly inspring woman and I am so priveleged to be able to pay tribute to her on the Broadway stage.”
