Everything old is new again with the release today [Sept. 21] of new projects from Carlos Santana and John Legend. Each artist is reinterpreting some of the great songs of the past on their brand new albums.For Santana’s Guitar Heaven [Sony], he revisits classic rock anthems including "Smoke On the Water," "Whole Lotta Love" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." Like his Grammy-winning album, Smooth, this one features collaborations with the likes of Joe Cocker, Yo Yo Ma and India Arie. Legend’s Wake Up! [Columbia] is a tribute to some of the more socially-conscious songs from the 60s and 70s. He’s joined on the project by The Roots. Legend will perform some of the songs live this week when he visits Terminal 5 in New York City; Santana gave audiences a taste of his new project last night on the premiere of Dancing with the Stars. He heads to Ireland next week.
