She's still flying high on her latest project, Hi-Fi Stereo -- and that energy is inspiring Mindi Abair's next album. In an interview with San Diego newspaper, North County Times, Abair recalled that Hi-Fi Stereo began with the classic records that inspired her growing up -- and how they were made. "I wanted to make a record like you were in the studio with me. I wanted to capture that spirit of what was going on so we did it live, just me and the band and the other players going off each other." While she hasn't settled on the exact direction of the upcoming album, she does want to return to that same organic vibe when she gets in the studio. "Music is natural and I want to capture that raw energy and feeling. That's what I'm after whether or not I'm in the studio or the stage." Mindi starts a run of dates in Tokoyo, Japan tonight [May 19].
