Mary J Blige Smells Success |

Mary J. Blige thinks how you smell is as important as how you look. The singer, who launched her own perfume line in 2010, tells Elle.com that fragrance is an important accessory. “First [people] see you, and then they smell you.” Blige’s perfume, My Life, sold 60,000 units in just six hours when it went on sale on the Home Shopping Network last fall. She explained why she decided to get into the scent game: “Back in the day, most perfume smelled too strong for me, so I didn’t wear any, but I finally found one I loved and stocked up on it. Every time I wore it, women would ask me what it was and I still have never told anyone…I was inspired to create My Life so I could finally share a personal part of my life beyond my music.” A portion of the sales of the perfume go to Blige’s charitable foundation supporting women.
