James Torme Keeps the Legacy Going |

If the last name sounds familiar, its because newcomer James Torme is yes, the son of the legendary Mel Torme. But he's forging his own musical path, mixing the classic sounds of his dad with a more contemporary vibe. As a kid, James spent many hours on a plane, flying between his parent's home in Los Angeles, and his mom's native UK. That gave him plenty of time to listen to music --both tapes that his dad put together for him, and the pop hits of the day. He admits that being given Michael Jackson's album Off the Wall completely turned him around -- so its no surprise he's covering Jackson's "Rock With You" as the first single off his upcoming album, Love for Sale, out on May 31.
