As America prepares to remember the events of 9/11 this weekend, the Daniel Pearl Foundation has announced that Dave Koz has joined the Honorary Committee of Daniel Pearl World Music Days. The annual event, which runs throughout October, is designed to unite people around their common humanity and love of music. Pearl is the journalist who was kidnapped and murdered by terrorists in Pakistan, shortly after the 9/11 attacks.

During World Music Days, musicians either make a brief statement from the stage or in their program to support the theme of “Harmony for Humanity.” Since its inception in 2002, over 5000 concerts in 103 countries have participated.

"Having known Danny since we were both kids," says Koz,  "it's indeed a deep honor for me to be involved in this wonderful organization, helping keep his spirit alive through the medium he loved most. Music has a way of stirring the soul in ways that words can't...so it's not surprising, yet still so inspiring, to see Daniel's message of love and tolerance connect all over the world through the gift of music. He'd be so proud."

Koz’ next album, Hello Tomorrow, also embraces the theme of facing tough times with a spirit of optimism and hope. It drops on Oct. 12.
