Happy birthday to Corinne Bailey Rae, who turns 32 on Sat. [Feb. 26]. Born in Leeds, England, she began her musical career playing the violin and singing in church. As a teen, she formed her own all-girl group, Helen, which achieved modest success on an indie record label. Rae worked her way through college as a hat check girl at a local jazz club. On slow nights, she was allowed to sing -- and it wasn't long before her unique vocals caught the attention of the music industry. Her self-titled debut CD went 2-times platinum; in 2007, she shared a Grammy with Herbie Hancock for her work on his project The Joni Letters. After the tragic death of her husband, the singer took a time out, returning in 2010 with The Sea and later that year, The Love EP.
