Beyonce Wants to Rename "Feminism" |
| Aug 05 2011 |

As one of the fiercest females on the planet, Beyonce is taking her role as a leader seriously -- and pondering ways to rebrand "feminism" for the 21st century. Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, the singer says that the concept of being a strong, independent woman goes beyond the labels. "I don't really feel that it's necessary to define [feminism]. It's just something that's kind of natural for me....I need to find a catchy new word for [it], right? Like 'bootylicious!'" Bey shared just how far her influence on women has stretched, recalling a recent show in Egypt. "There were a lot of women in the audience in burkas. They were singing along ... it was amazing! Some of the men got really upset! They were like to their women, 'We have to get you out of here!'... I guess some of them (men) do get annoyed. But I never want to do 'the banner thing'."
