Benson's 'Guitar Man' Out Today |
| Oct 04 2011 |

NEA Jazz Master and ten-time Grammy Award winning guitarist, George Benson, releases his new album, Guitar Man, today (October 4). Benson was joined on the project by Harvey Mason on drums, Joe Sample and David Garfield on keyboards and Ben Williams on bass. Legendary engineer, Al Schmidt and producer John Burk were also on hand, both Grammy winners in their own right. The artists came together with a minimum of prior rehearsal time. "We figured that we would get the best energy if we went into the studio with some live musicians who are savvy and flexible," says Benson, "and boy, did we accomplish that." The 12-song collection is a mix of jazz and pop standards. The first single, "Lady In My Life", is this week's Feedback Track on the Smooth Jazz Top 20 Countdown. Benson is on tour this month with his next performance set for October 14 in Phoenix, Arizona.
