A Few Things About Adele

British singer Adele is burning up the charts with her new album, 21, which has debuted at #1 in over 17 countries.  But she admits that while she enjoyed recording the project with producer Rick Rubin, she didn't enjoy the locale: California.  Talking to Canada's Jam Music, she revealed, "I hated Malibu.  I'm hardly a beach babe. I'm too pale for the sun...The first day it was overcast.  I got sunburnt quite badly, which lasted the entire [5 weeks].  But the studio was amazing."  Fans of the soulful chanteuse might be surprised to learn that one of her earliest influences was....the Spice Girls.  Growing up in England, their message of "girl power" really resonated with her and she recalls singing their songs on the playground at school.  Her appreciation of them hasn't dimmed:  when she got a chance to meet Emma Bunton, aka "Baby Spice," at a recent Rihanna concert, she cried.  Adele's cover of The Cure's "Lovesong" is currently the Feedback Track on the Smooth Jazz Countdown.
